Tractor Stools: What’s the Harm in Dreaming?

In Feathering the Nest on February 10, 2010 at 12:36 pm

Our kitchen counters are awash in black granite, and there’s nothing wrong with that, except that I’m sick to death of granite, granite, everywhere.  I dream of thick white marble counters with rounded beveled edges, maybe interspersed with a butcher block or two.  The kind of unpolished marble that roughens up with use, the kind you want to sidle up to for some softly scrambled eggs or a really good glass of red.

When That Day comes, we’ll also have to replace our Ikea Malte stools.  They’re cheery but lack the necessary heft to stand up to marble. And they’re starting to wobble a bit. Even though That Day is a long way off, there’s no harm in being prepared.

I love the above tractor stool from BassamFellows.   These will run you about $1400 apiece, hence the dreaming. But aren’t they lovely?  Terrific quality, too.  These wouldn’t wobble a year later.

Thos. Moser makes a more traditional one, too, and a bow-back version:
